Baji Quan Kung Fu

Introduction

Baji Quan ("Boxing of the 8 Directions") is a classic Kung Fu / Wushu style from northern China with over 250 years of history known for its uncompromising and direct combat techniques. In earlier times, Baji Quan was therefore mainly practiced by the military and security forces, for whom a fast-learning, uncomplicated and highly efficient melee system was always important. And that's exactly what the strengths of Baji Quan are! Directness without superfluous movements, intelligent strategies and tactics and high effectiveness. In addition, a sophisticated teaching concept, which helps quickly to self-defense ability and combat strength.

Classic Characteristics and Tactics

The classic Baji Quan Kung Fu has a very clear and simple structure. The techniques are straightforward and very direct. Deceptions and fake attacks are used to lure the attacker into combat actions, followed by concerted fist techniques, palms, fingers and elbows. Kicks are rarely used and usually not above waist height. Very typical of Baji Quan are above all the change of fast attack steps with fixed combat positions as well as an extreme power development in the fighting techniques.

Baji - An "Attack System" for Self-Defense

In the Wuyi Athletic Gym Heidelberg, we not only teach and train Baji according to classical patterns, but we orientate ourselves above all on the aspects of modern self-defense. And this includes, in addition to the training of a healthy self-esteem, especially the ability to protect and defend oneself in explosive situations. Almost all techniques in the Baji are carried out offensively. Also in the defense - in the Baji we prefer a favorable protective position instead of defense against single enemy attacks - the enemy attack structure is more or less attacked and broken, and thereby "stormed" into the opponent -> Protect and Attack! Thus, an attacker is left no opportunity to change his position or to orientate himself. The fighting techniques are usually "final" and end the fight by their high penetration immediately.
